to the women who have remained silent

I bow to you
each woman who comes forward
with what we all bear.

I bow to you–each woman who remains silent
because it is too painful or terrifying
to speak
or to remember
or to allow to be true.

I bow to myself,
uncharacteristically weeping,
with compassion and relief,
at this long-awaitd tsunami of VOICE.

We have endured.
We are rising.
It does not matter who believes us.
We hear each other.
We see each other.
We know.

I bow to the men who listen. who support. who learn. who echo.
